Getting found with your new Strikingly license

If you are new to your site and have a free license, here are a number of ways you can improve your ability to get found on Google and/or get support from Strikingly.

Connect a custom domain

DOMAIN NAME 

To do this you need to purchase a custom domain. In Ireland I recommend Blacknight because of their good support, however, I have no affiliation with them whatsoever and you can use whomever you wish. The pricing for dot IE domains is regulated by the IEDR so these will be the same no matter who you use. As they are trying to encourage people to get up and running, they are currently offering the first year for a very low price and then it goes to their regular pricing for each year after.

CONNECT DOMAIN 

Connecting the custom domain is a once off task that you need to do to get connected. Once you’re connected, you don’t have to worry about this. You can get Strikingly to do this for you. Send an email to support@Strikingly.com. See more information on this here.

GOOGLE /GOOGLE MYBUSINESS

Register for Google myBusiness. This is available at http://business.google.com. You will need to sign up and verify your business. You will receive a post in the mail with a verification code in 10 to 14 days after you register. This will help Google to see you as a legitimate business.

Register for Google Search Console here: https://search.google.com/search-console/about and verify your site. The more you can align yourself with best practice using Google products, the more legitimate you will look to Google. If I do the site for you, I do this part too. 

ON-SITE SEO

Take care of your on-site SEO. I did a video a few years ago on how you can do this yourself. It is still relevant today only the location of the checklist has changed. You can find the new checklist by following the diagram below. See how to complete the checklist using the video that follows.

INBOUND SEO/CONSISTENCY

To do really well in search you need to drive traffic to your site so make sure you are promoting your site and use a consistent name for your business so Google does not get confused.
